Internship: Center for Civic Engagement
My passion for service-learning continues to grow especially after serving multiple internships with the Center for Civic Engagement. I wanted to get a better understanding of how CCE functions throughout an academic cycle and was abe to accomplish that by serving in multiple internships. I learned a lot about creating a program from scratch (OSU's policy on implementing international service projects), continuing a well-known program (Hunger and Homelessness Action Week), and supporting all the days of services in between (Alternative Break, MLK Day of Service, Trick of Treat for Canned foods, etc.). Being able to connect and learn with others from all identities was something I was particularly excited about. I believe having hands-on experience outside of the classroom where students can engage with each other and reflect on their service creates an opportunity for learning new knowledge that will stick. Our work does not end today, together we can continue to educate and give back to our community.
